Didn't know that F1 had two female drivers compete in races back in the 50's and 70's.

Maria Teresa de Filippis, the first woman to compete in a world championship Formula One [theguardian.com] grand prix, has died at the age of 89. The Italian started three grand prix races in a privately entered Maserati 250F, finishing a best place of 10th at Spa-Francorchamps in 1958.The Naples-born driver had earlier tried to qualify for that year's Monaco Grand Prix, failing in her efforts along with another debutant, the future F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone. Both were too slow to qualify but there was no cut-off in Belgium, allowing De Filippis to qualify in last place. Nine of the 19 cars then failed to finish, and she crossed the line 10th. *snip* The late Lella Lombardi is the only other woman to start a Formula 1 race, making the grid in 12 grands prix between 1974 and 1976. Britain's Divina Galica, the South African Desire Wilson and the Italian Giovanna Amati have unsuccessfully tried to qualify for the races. |

Magnussen is fine, a small cut and a bit sore on that ankle. The wreck looked really bad but like the announcers said, hitting first with the back of the car before going into the barrier head first probably saved him. Makes me wonder what a Halo would have done in such a violent crash, that was strong enough to rip the headrest off his car. You wouldn't want a halo to go detach and smack into the drivers head.
Hamilton is a lucky man, everything worked in his favor on this race.
Quote of the week: "After the chequered flag I looked at the results," said Belgian Grand Prix [bbc.com] race-winner Nico Rosberg. "I knew Daniel [Ricciardo] was behind me and then I saw 'HAM' in P3 and I was like, 'What? Seriously?!"
And while it looked like Verstappen had caused the crash on turn 1, when they showed the slowmo later, it was clear that the two Ferraris crashed into each other and it wasn't Verstappen's fault. Of course Kimmi is still whining about Verstappen and insisting it's his fault.

The magazine said that according to Ecclestone, Liberty Media will transfer the first of two tranches of payment in the $8.5 billion deal on Tuesday.
Recent media reports had said that British broadcaster Sky as well as a consortium of Liberty Media's sister company Liberty Global (NASDAQ:LBTYA [investing.com]) and Discovery Communications were also circling Formula One.
Fiat Chrysler's Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne earlier said the industry as a whole had a vested interest in stability for Formula One.

The last two races, our Tivo didn't tape the qualifying, not sure what's going on. Have you had any troubles?
