Are you cheap about passing out candy?

56 18 October 26, 2016 at 04:00 PM
Now I can be cheap but my sister is SO CHEAP...

So what she does each year is buys up a lot of clearance Halloween candy, then puts it all in ziplock bags, and freezes them till the next year. She has been doing this for like 5 years now. To me, this is a bit cheap. Candy isn't really that much in the first place, at least not to me.

Are you cheap about passing out candy?

I bought 200 full size candy bars. They had a deal at Dillons (Kroger). They were buy one get one free. And they had coupons on the displays for like so much off. I ended up paying .25 per candy par.

We get about ~100 trick-or-treaters per year and spend about $40 on candy. We give our a small handful of "fun-size" candies...I've debated giving out one full-size bar instead but went with the variety again this year. Any leftover candy will be consumed quickly at our house. laugh out loud I think last year was the first time we had any leftover, and I don't anticipate any leftover this year.

We don't give out candy as one of our cats really freaks out when someone comes to the door, he'll hide for hours. So having multiple people knock on the door would be torture for him. That and we're cheap! laugh out loud

I moved into my newest house the day before Halloween 6 years ago. Its in a subdivision in the center of our small town. I got caught off guard and was innodated with trick or treaters. There must have been a couple hundred. I had no candy and thought I would just give a couple of quarters to the kids. My house was the most popular on the block. There are some greedy little kids out there I tell you. Now I just turn off the lights and close the shades, I don't want the liability.

Good thing that there are not that many trick or treaters on our area. Just a little candy suffices. And I can always eat the rest. Lol.

I'll be night shift on Halloween this year so trick-or-treat hours sound like a perfect time to shut the lights off and take a nap before work.

Or my favorite, put an empty bowl out front with a sign that says: "Please Take Just One" and maybe scatter a few empty wrappers on the ground for an extra touch.

In past years we were always happy to hand out candy. However, our current pack of dogs don't like unfamiliar guests so we no longer leave the outside lights on (official town policy: lights on = trick-or-treaters welcome; lights off = do not disturb).

We haven't had a single tricker treater in the three Halloween's we've been here. It's just too dangerous in this area to walk around.

We give out full sized bars. Dh thought it was weird at first but it usually works out to the same price as a few fun sized and the kids are just thrilled. I typically buy two boxes at Costco but this year Walgreen's had some good deals and I bought most of them there.

This is my first time giving out candy and I don't even know WHAT to expect. I have no idea how many kids live here.

Bf just bought $50 in candy. I have a sneaking suspicion he's in it for the leftovers. We give big handfuls of fun sized and if anybody asks for more, we give it to them. Our first Halloween In our new house was quite a few trick or treaters and it was raining. Lol so we expect more this year
