Sunday my husband went riding with friends and didn't come back...until today.
yes, he crashed on hwy 215 up in NC. Got a call around 5 til 2pm on sunday saying I needed to get up to Asheville and that my husband was admitted to the ER there. Evidently he was turning a very simple turn, not even speeding, and something made the bike slip off the edge of the road and he rode into a ditch, tearing off the front of the bike and sending him flying into a rock wall next to the ditch. His head hit the wall, but thank god he had his helmet on. Don't know yet if the bike is totaled, I have to call the bike shop that his brother and dad took it to and see if they are done with the estimate or can give me a rough idea as to when it will be done.
Anyway, he has a mild concussion and keeps repeating himself, and has very bad short term memory loss. It's gotten a lot better since Sunday, but still he asks me stuff a few times before he can remember the answer to it. He also broke his 3rd finger bone behind the knuckle on his hand and has major road rash on both knees. (wearing a jacket with pads, but no pants with pads...just blue jeans)
I have pics of the bike, but I will have to figure out how in the hell to get them off my phone using this USB cord. I just tried to do it and can't get it. He had the camera on the bike with him, and it's completely ruined. the SD card inside showed that he hadn't even taken any pictures or filmed at all that day.

He got careless and overdrove the corner. Dontknow

Hopefully he learns from it and moves on with the knowledge that a moment on a bike not completely focused can end terribly.

And the total is in....bike is totaled and the value was $9515, plus taxes and license tag comes out to $9840 minus our $1000 deductible which comes out to $8840 for us...plus the cost of his helmet($250) and towing fee ($200) so a grand total of $9290. What really sucks is evidently we didn't have accesories coverage so the jacket and camera mounted to the bike were not covered. BUT GET THIS....If he had crashed in SC, they would have NOT covered the helmet!!! Why? Because it's not a law to wear one here. But since he crashed in NC, they have to cover the helmet since it was required. Sad, huh?

Oh, and we decided no new bike right now. We are going to be so far in debt with him being out of work that most of it will go toward bills, and my car taxes are due next month.And....the price of the 2009 ZX14: $12,099. Sucks...cause that orange one looks so freakin awesome

Hubby got his soft cast off today and is now in a wrist support until he can get the muscles working good again. No pain in his hand anymore where the break is though, so that is good. Just sore from not using it.
Doc said 2 more weeks and he will sign a full release.

Oh well..guess noone cared about this update but me. Dontknow
