Would have to believe that telling a girl that the both of you are losers is definitely NOT a way to endear yourself to her.
There's a number of different approaches to try that might be more effective. You could do the "well, most guy's in college are just out to get laid so they don't appreciate a girl like you" and act as though you are different, above it all, more mature in your thinking.
In short, be different. Be something that they aren't expecting.
Thuis of course presumes that the girl you are after isn't a predator herself just out for conquest.

We're finally about to put into place a change that I finished working on back in October for much the same reason. It's not even a grand, sweeping change or anything, just an update to an XML schema that adds new optional data, and is fully backwards compatible.
