Some websites use colors now that appear washed out. I gather most people can't notice this. Maybe my eyes are freaky. In fact they are using gray tones and not real black. I think SD blue...

Give it some time and let your eyes adjust to the new design :) I know that anytime we update its a jolt to people's expectations and they just need to get familiar with it.
