THe cameras they sell are not repaired or consumer returns, they are overstocked returns from store that couldn't sell them.
Since they technically left Canon's hands they cant be resold as new...

Some of them are actually used by consumers, you can tell by looking at the actuations.
Canon also responded in an email stating "the source of these cameras is not released".

actutatuions is a bad measure. sometimes canon will test the cameras, but not reset the actuation count.
but some people have reported getting "visibly used" cameras. That is a little scary.

True but some people have reported numbers such as over 1000 actuations. As for me, my last camera from the program only showed 100+ actuations. YMMV;)

It does feel cheap and plasticky, but the pictures the T2i takes says otherwise. However the 50D is no underperformer either, and you couldn't go wrong either way!

WideStance, Why not call and ask them? If you don't like it, you can move to Nikon, Sony, Pentax, etc. I don't see them offering any kind of "Loyalty Program"?
