Point being, with Google Voice, you have to have a number that you can use to access your Google Voice account from. With Ooma, you don't physically need to have a phone line to get Ooma number....

I have used my Ooma for faxing and it works just fine. There is a simple code to enter before a fax, something like *99, that you just append as a prefix to the number your fax machine is dialing....

I got Ooma for my parents to replace their land line since they could could continue to use their existing wiring and phones. Using a computer to make or receive phone calls wasn't appealing to them....
