Wouldn't recommend getting a non-second gen processor (processor number starts with a 2) on anything at this point.. too big a performance difference, the prices on these will plummet soon. About 3...

Asus beats HP with no mercy in terms of reliability and quality in SquareTrade report. Enough said.

I have this similar computer (ASUS N61JQ-XV1) . Its good for gaming on the go however its kind of on the heavy side so not that portable. The other thing is battery life is short on normal settings,...

Obsolete??? do you know what that means? How is a prior generation CPU an "obsolete" technology when there are many older processors still used and functional with current programs. This isnt a...

As far as I know, and take it with salt, as I don't look into too many laptop stuff, Asus has gotten better in quality, as far as laptops goes... but I think Dells do have them beat. I wouldn't buy a...

No, its not. Do you know ANYTHING about processors? It's approximately 10% faster, which isn't that significant. You are acting as if it is 50-100 times faster or something. There are other benefits...

Higher performance, less heat, probably better battery life depending on configuration. My comment about this deal has been blasted to dust.....just not enough true enthusiasts in this thread....

Yours is portable, this Asus is a desktop replacement. Your HD is slower, but is an easy upgrade. 15.6" FTW IMO. FWIW, I love J&R. Used to buy all my audio equipment from them in the 90's. ...

Pre-order? With obsolete CPU  I don't see how this is a good deal at all when you compare to the ~$927 HP. -Practically obsolete CPU. -Piss poor resolution considering the size and...
I couldn't agree more. I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't judge a brand simply from a single, isolated experience. Every manufacturer produces lemons. But after dealing with several HP...

ASUS? That is a warning label. After my mainboard fiasco I'd never own another ASUS product if it was given to me. NOPE. No way.

I venture to guess that the squaretrade sample size is significantly larger than your 8 computer sample size. Also, sample sizes are usually pretty small. That is why they are called sample sizes.

Not a bad deal but resolution (not 1080p) and no blu-ray on board kill it for me. I know Blu-ray is not that big of a deal to most but it would be nice to see more manufacturers start to throw it in...

False. Sandy Bridge is significantly faster than the 1st generation Core i* series. Not that it matters in gaming though since the video card is the bottleneck.

Not really what you want for a gaming laptop these days so it's not for the hardcore gamer. Probably a good deal for those who need a desktop replacement (you don't want to lug this thing around)...

I think the issue is that you are an enthusiast. That is not an insult but, for you, only the best is acceptable. Most slickdealers are value based consumers, meaning they don't necessarily need the...

The biggest difference is 15" vs. 17" screen, whether you want more portability or larger screen real estate. Pretty much everything else balances out.

Exactly. For $750 what do people want? 1600x900 is fine for 17.3". I look at 1920x1200 on a 24" monitor. Text is roughly the same size @ 17.3" @ 16x9. This is a good resolution for this sized...
