sounds like a leak/stoppage. Pressure builds up slowly over a few minutes, then water comes out, then pressure builds up again. Kinda like a geyser's cycle, just much less dramatic.

Just because you had 2 or 3 valves separated, doesn't mean that the others are not all in a box somewhere. I would follow the wiring if possible.

When you have nothing to do, I would suggest trying to find the valves for zones 4,5 and 6. You really don't want to wait til there is a problem and then have to find them.
