Not sure if this helps or not, but for the past few days I have been shopping endlessly for a rental for an upcoming 8 day Orlando trip (end of August), and was only finding deals similar to what you...

Yeah the local taxes are atrocious, adding up to more than the rental itself at many places. The roostervacuums at Kansas City charge $4 a day for their downtown arena (which most people never go...

I booked a non-airport location in Atlanta, GA TODAY(June 11, 2011) with Enterprise from June 16th to June 30th. 2011 via HOTWIRE. I came up with a total of $628 for the two weeks.(that came out to...

Hot find! Thanks OP! Scored a full-size vehicle for 7 days out of LAX for $101 with fees! Named my own price @ $9/day + $4/day bonus cash. Thanks again OP!

yeah, stay away from airport locations...the fees can be as high as 45% of the cost of the rental (see sky harbor airport in Phoenix)... you may be able to have the fees waived if you are not...

Glad to help! Hope it works out for you :) One quick note... my math was off. If you have your bid accepted at $15/day, your total including fees should be far less than my earlier estimate of around...

I've been using Hotwire as a pricepoint. The 25% undercutting idea is great. I'll try that. Thanks!

Anyone has any suggestion on how much I should bid for a Mid-size SUV, picking up at the Orlando airport? (for 1 week). TIA.

One way is to use different cc, email, ect. each time. Another way that worked for me was after the first rejection on the mid-side SUV, I went back and bid low on the standard SUV. Of course,...

:thanks: op. I was able to get the $9 price. Total, with fees, $160 for 9 days for a full size car.

Fees are to be expected with car rentals. The total is all that matters.

So I noticed a couple people thumb downing this deal. Unable to replicate the $9? Or incorrect information? How can I make this post better because Name Your Own Price with a $4 a day is a good...

Depends a lot on your days. One suggestion is to use Hotwire as a pricepoint, then undercutting that by 25% or so on priceline with name your own price. Usually works pretty well for me for cars...

Thanks to all thread posters - especially OP & kDubz (repped both). I just used the PL $4 daily incentive for a 7 day rental from Orlando Sanford Airport later this month. I bid $8/day (thereby...

You can try searching on hotwire.com first and see what the best prices they offer first and then try bidding a bit lower than their prices.

Tried $15. Rejected. After 3 more bids. They accepted $21/day (+$4 PL) from Hertz. Final total is about ~$228 (22% less then Hotwire). So your $220 was really hitting that sweet spot. Thanks again!...

I think it really depends on how long you want to monkey around with the name your own price system. If you bid too low, and your bid is not accepted, you have to modify your initial parameters...

Thank you!!! I'm heading to Orlando around mid-August and I don't like to monkey around with name your price system. I just need to find that "sweet spot" so I can get an idea of how much I should...

To save on car rentals, try autoslash.com. You put your dates and type of car into their database then they keep watch on car rental rates and automatically adjust your rates as they lower. They...

Hmm. Cheapest I could fine on Autoslash is $120 more/week for a compact vs. a full-size found on Hotwire.

How were you able to do 3 more bids on the same car type and dates?

Are you using the Name Your Own price? When I used this option I didn't have any extra fees. Maybe its by location which makes it YMMV
Post #40253499 added 06-11-2011 1:26 AM by kDubz in Archived Deals
Location can definitely make a difference. For example, I know that airports have fees associated with rentals that locations off airport grounds do not. This isn't something unique to Priceline,...

You can just say "$4 off per day with weekly name-your-own-price rental through priceline". Your title did make me think it was 9 dollars a day for all rentals. I needed a car from LGA, there's no...
