You only lose the unused minutes after 1 year if you don't add more airtime. So by buying more airtime it should extend the original unused minutes for that duration of time also..... Right?

nope, not for me it isnt. The phone is only maybe worth 39.99. (its 40 on amazon might be cheapers elsewhere) So paying an extra 35% of the cost of the actual phone isnt worth it to me.
