You can think like that but that is not how they will process. Read the trade-in terms and condition in the OP or see attached. EPP and 50SUMMER discounts are not part of the "instant rebates".

Namlook yes, there is generic ink that you can find on ebay it saves a ton of money. I used it for my OfficeJet for awhile. I specifically asked HP if it voids the warranty and it does not.
