Inductive charging is the future. Until we get there, here's what I'm looking for: - 4+ USB ports - 2A maximum on a single port - 1A minimum per port when all ports are in use - NO inductor...

I've looked for something like this for ages. Couldn't find it, either. Was trying to build charging stations for phones, and ended up having to put in a power strip with a bunch of individual USB...

Yep. I have a Blackberry charger, Zune HD charger, and the charger for my tablet all ran through a splitter plugged into a kill-o-watt. The energy usage flickers on and off of 1 watt. Which...

we're not in the 80s any more, anything with a Li ion battery in it can handle constant "charging" (because it won't actually be charging simply because it's plugged in). if any battery were somehow...

This is stupid. You need to remember to push the power button, as an EXTRA step, once you plug your device in.

It's not a charging station, and it won't hide all the cords, but you can use one plug for 4 devices with a 4USB travel charger. I bought one from Newegg for $20....

In addition, keeping a battery charging for excessive amounts of time will kill the battery faster. This will let you plug it in before you go to sleep and not worry about over charging it for when...

The sell point isn't how much you are saving in electricity, it's an included feature. The sell point is charging 4 devices at ones via USB, and not having the tangle of cords.

The question is, what's the current per usb port? Are there any reputable alternatives to this? I want something that has at least 4 USB ports, at least 500mA per port, and doesn't have the...

That's true, a powered USB hub. It's just so difficult to find out online how much each port's output power is. It seems the standard is 500mA per USB port, I would love to find a charging station...

Very tempting. I like the way it neatly holds 2 of the devices being charged. If it was $14.99 I'd be all over it.

Exactly. Even though SD does well at pointing out the exceptions, conventional wisdom usually applies: things go on clearance for a reason.

I agree with him, it's a stupid step that you most certain forget to do at least once in a while. Waking up in the morning finding a dead phone on the charger would be incredibly frustrating.
