It looks like the elements drive is $200 and usb 2.0. The my book essential is $140 and usb 3.0. I believe the consensus is that the elements drives hold up better than than the my book externals....

no the hitachi drive is internal drive for $108 @ amazon and it is 5400 rpm that is why iam confused why and external HDD is getting much less hits

I have this drive and its pretty good (picked up for 119 a while ago). Usb3 interface does make a difference. My main issue with it is it slows down reboots by 15-20 seconds if its powered up...

You void the warranty when you remove the drive from the enclosure. That makes a big difference when you are buying two or more. Lower spindle speed means less power, less heat, server friendly.
