When the 6121 first came out, the motherboards were identical to the 6120. Perhaps they made changes later. You should have the same success with the 6120 or 6121. It is the ISP CMTS equipment...

It's the exact same thing as the 6120. Both the 6120 and 6121 are DOCSIS 3.0. If you have an SB5101 or any other DOCSIS 2.0 modem, you may or may not need to upgrade. DOCSIS 3.0 is only required...

The SB6120 and SB6121 are identical on the inside. Both use the same motherboard and SB612X firmware. The SB6121 is in a slightly smaller housing that has been prone to more overheating.

Comcast rates the 6121 better then 6120 which makes me a little suspicious about this modem.
