There's only one connector on the enclosure, so you have no choice. What's wrong with using the USB port to power the device?

It is mini-usb, but that's the only port so you can't power+connect to cpu. FWIW, I've been using the drive as a travel hd, and I haven't had any problems with it & using only 1 usb to power it on...
