This Samsung drive has a higher areal density than many 7200rpm drives, so it's normally as fast or faster than them. I get 120MB/s at the beginning of the drive and around 75MB/s toward the center....

This samsung drive is faster, and cheaper. The WD drive you have there is an older model that has been replaced and it is not as fast. Only advantage is it has prime shipping.
