I would get the 4g. I sold my 2g and it was worth the upgrade. Slimmer, faster, (camera don't use to low of power). The ipod touch was worth every penny you can surf the web and stuff.

I'd say definitely 4th generation and refurbs off the Apple website are perfect, but I wouldn't buy from elsewhere a refurb.

I bought a new 4th gen one from office depot on clearance a few weeks ago for $170 after tax. I agree for a 3rd gen you should get a 32gig for that price.
