The 24 is 1920x1200. Even if you just surf the web, the extra real estate is nice. If you can afford it the 24" inch for $300ish is worth waiting for.

You can probably do with an IPS monitor with a KVM switch. And normally TV are not IPS panels. I haven't seen one at least...

If you are primarily gaming, I think the 16:9 1920x1080p aspect ratio of the 23 inch would be better so you do not have bars on the bottom and top in newer games.

Got the U2412HM a week ago. Nice screen, nice stand. Very happy with my purchase. Uses about 60% less power than my last 24" LCD screen.
