I did receive a call from BofA about the card. It was just a courtesy call, a rep thanked me for getting the card and asked if I had any questions. Didn't ask for any information.

Yes, you can receive a check, but it has to be in $25 increments, as with all forms of redemption: "Redeem cash rewards in $25 increments."
