Thanks dude
Well, ended up getting it working. Had to reinstall a 2nd timef rom scratch. A complete pain int he hass but all seems to be well now.
One question... when reinstalling apps, I had severalon the...
HP says there are no bios updates for my mobo....
Thanks, will try today when I get back home.
0 risk...worst case scenario is that you can't get into Windows and just switch back to native IDE in the BIOS...problem solved.
If you do change it from native IDE to AHCI, and you don't have SATA drivers installed, Windows won't boot. Make sure to install all necessary drivers prior to changing BIOS settings.
Didn't see your thread till now. For me it was a simple registry change that will let you switch from IDE to AHCI.
For manual reinstalling apps, no unless you were the one designing the app. A lot...
This is the motherboard... I think it's SATA II so I'm not expecting miracles, but still?
...
Yeah I mean how do I find out where they are. I went to device manager and found the device (SSD) and right-click check for updates but it said I was current.
I've also noticed on boot my SSD is set to RAID. I can't change it to IDE either; it also crashes on boot the same way.
I disconnected my included 500gb HD as well, no difference.
I don't know why but this isn't working

That's because Intel Matrix Storage Manager is a two year old product. The new name is now Rapid Storage Technology. If you are running IMSM you should upgrade IMMEDIATELY. The last version of IMSM I...
Still not working, after installing Rapid Store Technology.
WTF!
Not sure, I'd have to check. I went with default install ... let me dig around. thanks for the suggestion.
As prozac said, I think AHCI is probably the explanation for the crap write speeds. If you let Win7 do the settings when you installed on the SSD, it should be a simple switch in the bios.

You have the SATA option set to AHCI in the BIOS? Running the latest firmware?
Hmm... thanks didn't seem to fix it. I still get the boto cycle.
I never actually see this
STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE
What I get is a the window start page where...
Thanks Repped
thought you weren't in 7, if thats the case, click my 1st link and run the microsoft "fix it"
If I had seen this thread before, I would have recommended that you disconnect your HDD (data) drives and only have your SSD connected when installing Windows. I've had situations where the boot...
Tried enabling AHCI and got a boot loop. Trying to find out what I'm missing now. How do I actually install the correct drivers?
Argh.
Saw that, looked like it applied to WinXP. I'll try it anyway.
Edit: yeah, for Intel Matrix Storage Manager it only provides up to Vista
After this Win7 reinstall I'm getting all kinds of wonky errors and issues now.
Examples:
- still can't enable AHCI
- search not working in windows at all, or in windows explorer (i.e. go into...
I cant post in the deals section why?
why post randomly here?
is why.
update your motherboard bios.
F6 one was for drivers when installing windows.
Did you do the fresh install while in AHCI mode or some other mode? All these various modes can definitely screw with bootup. Whenever I do a BIOS...
Minor thread hijack. I need to do this to my system (Hard drives). if I do my driver installs first is there much risk in just flipping the switch? Anything else I need to be aware of?
Yeah I actually ended up doing a fresh reinstall last night.... and I'm still getting the same issue :(
OK... I see rapid store technology... there are two versions, F6 Driver Diskettes and...
SATA drivers...?
I'm pretty sure I already said that.

OK, finally got my SSD installed.
Any ideas on this? Seems very slow to me for write speeds.
