Take your current savings, put it in a CD if you don't want any risk. If you're ok with some risk, put it in an index fund. If you're somewhere in between, split it up however you see fit.

I bought a automatic 2012 Fit base model for 16k. Its a great little car. Gets decent mileage and has received plenty of awards/recognition.

assuming 500/month for a car loan @ 5 years w/o downpayment...the car you're looking at is probably $25k or so... You can get a much cheaper car for less than $20k that gets great...
