Yep same Marvel 9174 controller as the M4. Corsair Performance Pro and Intel 510 drives but a lot cheaper and with a 5 year warranty

Plextor is probably as old or older than maxtor. Plextor used to be known for their great cd-r/rw drives.

Plextor was THE name to buy when it came to the first several years of DVD ROM drives. They are still considered decent but not what they once were.
