as long as the phone is NOT AT&T branded, they wont know wut kind of phone you are using, therefore, you dont have to get data plan. Ive been using N8 for a year on AT&T without data plan.. !

Newer chipsets = faster FTTF. You have to have a clear line to the sky i.e. not in urban corridor and not inside for the fastest offline results. It's still going to be slow without aGPS.
