Try switching up search terms. I searched by "pfsense" which is a freeBSD distribution. You could also try "monowall" or "smoothwall" or any distro. Some ebayers try to include those as a selling...

You sure can! In fact a few adventurous souls on the pfsense forums have it running on Lanner hardware. I'm pretty sure they've used the embedded version of it which just limits the writes since most...

Well I may be saved. I have a Lanner FW-7560 that I've had laying around for almost a year now. Picked it up on Ebay for a great price. Anyway I've never been able to get it working 100% because it's...

Hadn't realized they worked this way. So you can run a linix firewall like PFsense or Endian? I wonder if anyone has already compiled a version for Lanner hardware?
Also I'm not saying you don't...

I have to install, that's been the main problem. The serial output works great until after the BIOS and POST screens go by; once it actually tries to boot something the serial ouput is useless....

Wow, been following Raspberry Pi for a potential XBMC system, but had no clue that people were doing firewalls!!!
That doesn't seem too bad at all. I wish those Atom prices started coming down...

Your best bet may be an Atom system. You can get the basic Intel motherboard for ~ $75. I recently made one into a basic backup server for my mom's home business.
You may also want to consider a...

Only thing I have to say is it would be of relevent interest to keep up with the Raspberry Pi development. There is quite a few people interested in using it as a DIY firewall:...

$10 very well spent. System is up and running. Ran into some hiccups though. Apparently pfsense doesn't really like to create a switch/bridge from your extra ports. I ran into some serious config...

You can't just redirect the output via the boot loader? In GRUB, it's just a matter of appending this the kernel line
console=ttyS1,19200n8
(assuming those are the correct parameters of course)

That Lanner is pretty cool. Any idea how much you paid for it? And is it loud?

In case anyone cares, now that everything has been working just fine I've been tinkering with the idea of getting rid of the lanner box and installing pfsense onto my N36L. I took a very long look at...

I picked it up on ebay for about $110/$120. Considering that something with these features new would be over $300/$400 I was happy with the purchase. It even came with pfsense preinstalled and...

Maybe 1 WAN, 1 LAN and 1 DMZ?
I really want to like Linux and PFsense etc but the amount of tinkering to get things to work really makes me feel like I waste a ton of time.

Yeah I just got it running with 1 WAN and 4 LANs, all the LANs are bridged. It was a nightmare getting it there, I found the solution on their forums.
That's the understatement of the century!...

You probably could. But again, I suck at anything requiring a CLI or programming. I could probably do it but the effort on my part would far outweigh the $10 I spent.
EDIT: It appears you can also...
