To be fair, 1 non-multiroom DVR is $15.99, at least in my area. So, for 5 TVs, it would be $960 a year. Obviously, that's still a lot.

You still need boxes at each TV. The boxes cost $9.99, so the yearly cost is $719.40. Also, with this way, you can only record two shows at once, vs. 4 (or 6, once the card comes out) with the HTPC.
