How is that the same thing? 200mbps != 500mbps 500 is 2.5x more than 200 last I checked my math skills. And it's a no-name seller - what's with people pushing dbroth lately?

No, you need to plug it directly into the wall. However, you can plug a surge protector into the passthrough plug to use with your computer or A/V system.

No you need to plug these directly into the wall.

Quoting this as a reminder. These DO NOT work when used in a surge protector or extension cord. They must be plugged directly into a wall socket. (They have a pass-through, so if you must, plug your...

Depends on the wiring in your location and placement of the powerline units. If you can, go with MOCA units.

Post #48588664 added 03-19-2012 7:50 PM by iimrheadii in Archived Deals
That is a 200Mbps product, this is 500Mbps. It's also $68 after including $8 shipping, so I'm not sure I would even call it "alot" cheaper at that point.
Post #48588724 added 03-19-2012 7:53 PM by OstrichSak in Archived Deals
500mbps and 200mbps are NOT the same thing. The one you linked to takes up a plug as well. Those two things alone may be enough for someone to want to spend $20-$30 more.

ok so...never heard of this before - it sounds awesome. Would I be able to run a hub/switch into one of these and connect multiple devices, like a PS3 and computer that are near by each other?

Post #48588988 added 03-19-2012 8:06 PM by Callaway7 in Archived Deals
Yes. Though wiring and distance dictate the actual throughput speed.

The speeds you get will depend on the wiring in your location, but you should see faster speeds with the 500 Mbps units regardless of whether you have a 1000 or 100 Mbps LAN. I did some speed tests...

Results may vary, but my experience has been that the 200 and 500 Mbps units are nowhere near their claimed speeds. 200 Mbps units only have 100 Mbps fast ethernet ports, after all. However, in the...

Yes I have the D-Link DWL-G730AP and was using it as a bridge which used to work. So this Homeplug from Zyxel will not work and I should just buy a wireless bridge?
Post #48590628 added 03-19-2012 9:23 PM by good_things7 in Archived Deals
A wireless bridge would work, but the powerline units would also resolve your issue. The first powerline unit would need to be plugged into an electrical outlet near your wireless router and then...
