M4 is THE drive to get. It's got a great reputation while most other drives have problems or are unproven.

You mean SSD drive? If you're processing video, you're going to have other bottlenecks, not the drive. Are you sure you're editing uncompressed video??? Most video is editing is NOT done on...

Thanks OP, can you confirm if it works with my Thinkpad X220? i looked under specs for 7 mm vs 9 mm ?? - seriously ... i am not sure what i am talking about, but X220 is different from other...
Cripple is subjective, but for optimal performance, use AHCI. IDE performance is poor in comparison.
Post #48635924 added 03-21-2012 8:11 AM by PartEleven in Archived Deals
The 7mm vs 9mm thing refers to the physical dimensions of the SSD itself. A standard 2.5" laptop drive is 9mm in height. Most SSDs are this thickness. However in the interest of making laptops as...

I dont know how this turned ugly, but what are we really talking about, are you guys saying that M4 is the best ? That 830 is a bad drive ? Or that 830 is worst ? Are you guys saying this because you...

No... can't be! If Tom's rates it 2 tiers below, then M4 must be piss low compared to 830, especially when it comes to FPS! No a more serious note, 830 is a great drive drive. The question...

:lmao: Apples to donkeys my friend. This thread is about a SSD, not a hybrid HDD

That's a completely different product. That has a tiny SSD for cache and then the rest is a normal hard disk. It can increase performance over a regular 2.5" 7200 RPM drive, but not compared to a SSD

Question: Anyone use this with XP x64? How does it compare to Windows 7? I understand XP 64 doesn't have TRIM support but is there a way to get around that?
Post #48642466 added 03-21-2012 12:15 PM by BGRT in Archived Deals
I ran XP 64 for about 2 years. I wouldn't really recommend it because of the lack of driver and sometimes software support. OEMs typically ignore this OS when they develop drivers. Also XP doesn't...

Unless you have a very old laptop that uses IDE drive or a ultra portable one that uses 1.8" drive (which is kind of rare), it should work with your laptop.

Nice, I can lock it now with Amazon, and if a lower price is available, I can always cancel, and get the lower price, seeing I don't need it right now.
