Absolutely right, it should work well with a wide variety of modern motherboards. If your motherboard uses 240 pin DDR3, this should work - and work very reliably.

You do realize that your router does not use ECC ram, right? That being said, I've had two sticks of RAM (one Avenir the other Corsair) go bad in one machine. I'm suspecting a motherboard problem.

You missed my point. The CamelEgg (Newegg) price tracker does contain valuable information. It shows the price before coupons over time, we can use that info to our advantage. Since that we know...
My understanding is ECC was more necessary when RAM quality wasn't as good as it is today. For the same price you can also get HP ram (Non ECC) on eBay from "New Server Pulls" if you want to stick...

This is the cheapest it's been at Newegg for at least 5 months, it's never been $25. Here's the price history of this part: http://urlhasbeenblocked/product/N82E16820231424 It's been $36 to $38 for...

Like I said... price tracker doesn't show you what possible discounts there are. On the other hand, price tracker for Amazon is a consumer's best friend, but Subscribe and Save puts another twist to...

So if you plan on overclocking the cpu what type of ram would you recommend?

I just bought an XPS 8300 yesterday. Comes with 8GB of ram (2x4 GB). Would this work if I bought it and replaced 2 of the sticks to bring the total up to 12 GB? Been searing around to see if its...

OpenIndiana is the FOSS fork of Solaris? I haven't heard much about it. Is the RAIDZ-1 performance that much better than FreeNAS 8? The features in the newer versions of ZFS don't really...

RAIDZ-1 is a viable option if you don't need the best performance, I run openindiana for a more up-to-date version of ZFS, + the performance of FreeNAS is awful in comparison. All my OI boxes are...

That's correct. A single bit error does not necessarily result in data corruption. In many cases, it goes unnoticed by the end user. I agree it's ultimately a judgment call, especially for home use....

Did the exact same thing. Have had no issues with this memory. Better price than I paid too. Rep'ed.

Is this really a good deal?. I mean I've seen this model sell for 25 dollars like few months ago.

I've read other analysis that puts the real world odds of significant data corruption at a much, much, much lower level. In fact, that PDF you've linked to above concludes that only 8% of DIMMs...

I wouldn't rely entirely on price history because it doesn't reflect any savings with coupon codes.

First of all, thanks to elguapo32 for commenting. Now to address the following: It probably is over rated for many home users, however most people don't understand the benefit and think that...

I was looking for some cheap, high quality (NO REBATE) RAM for my HP N40L Microserver. No, it's not ECC, but I don't think ECC is worth it for home use. Especially not when using RAM of this...

True, but coupon codes for RAM are rarely better than this deal's 15% off + Free Shipping. Often it's just 10%. So even considering discounts, I think this is a pretty good deal. I doubt it's...

I agree, checksumming your data is a must. I'm putting FreeNAS with ZFS checksumming on all my N40L boxes, so I suspect this will reduce my error potential by a tremendous amount. I'll be using...

I heard about it after trying FreeNAS, and it seemed like it fit the bill. The added features of more recent ZFS versions aren't important to me at this point. Linux now offers ZFS support as well,...

That's not entirely true. The reality is that sometimes there are memory errors. ECC corrects the vast majority of those. You need to decide if the risk is high enough to warrant ECC. Here's an...
