Probably because most SDers don't want to shell out $500 on a SSD, and can't use it (efficiently) anyway. But it will no doubt hit FP ... just a slower burner.

if you are buying this for a desktop, please consider 2 256 drives in raid 0 also, it will be much faster

No it won't. There are two factors at play: latency and bandwidth. RAID may increase bandwidth but it will also increase latency, which is arguably what you buy SSDs for.
