For a HTPC, the 5450 should suit you better than the 9400GT, if anything for the HDMI output and much lower power consumption. The 5450 also has more hardware acceleration for different video...

+1 to iamidle's response. The Anandtech comments refer to video optimization features and how they were implemented in the AMD drivers at the time. Anyone dumping on this deal, please feel free to...

Not even suitable for HTPC use? I don't know about that. In February 2010, AnandTech called the 5450 the almost-perfect HTPC card. Have HTPCs really advanced so much in the last two years that the...

I haven't seen a passive 1GB for less than $15. Plus this one includes both low-profile brackets, which not all do. Part of the problem comparing is there are so many variations of RAM and passive...

Ordered one to try. If it doesn't work, I am sure I can get my $15 back.

For those who are picky about such things, tom's hardware gave the HD 5450 a HQV 2.0 score of 155 out of 210, based on poor scores in Image Scaling, Enhancements, and Adaptive Processing....

orly? "After encountering the video decoding limitations of the 5450 in our review of that card, we had been expecting the 5570 to finally fill the role of the perfect HTPC card. Since we had...

lol, I use a 4350 as my HTPC GPU. It's worse than the 5450 and yet still does everything I want. If your HTPC uses some crazy media format, it may not work. Anybody else, this is great. I think...

Passing on this because I already have a spare card lying around, but I'd pay $15 for this before I'd pay $10 for the 32-bit version.
Happy HD5450 user here. It's far better than the HD2000 iGPU on the i3-2100 for deinterlacing SD and HD 1080i. The HD2000 had a really hard time with live TV. I can't really tell the difference...
