Is there no other place that sells that item cheaper?

If the price included 1080p screen, this would be a HOT deal, nonetheless, nice specs for the price.

Not so slick at all IMHO... I got practically the same thing from costco for 30 bucks more with a 6770m gpu + a 9 cell battery - blu-ray (but whats the point with this resolution screen?) back in...

I would, but I'm holding out 2 weeks for the Ivy/Kepler combo. No doubt it will cost more but the Kepler Performance per watt boost will be very useful in laptops.

I have an older dv7-2170us but I can speak to this. Option 1) Clone the current HDD to SSD using a program specifically designed for SSDs Option 2) Replace HDD with SSD and use restore CDs

Not Really, just upgrade for $25 to a really nice one depending on what you want.

Off topic question - buying this, and then getting a SSD, what is the recommended method of transferring the drive data (partition and files, etc) to the SSD and having that as the main drive? I'd...

Ah crap, I JUST ordered this exact same laptop like 5 days ago but for 1088 instead of the $955 it will cost me with this deal (I live in Taxifornia unfortunately), is there anyway to call and...

For an extra $25 you can upgrade to a 7690 gpu making it a LEGIT gaming laptop. The 7690 cannot handle 1080p modern gaming (like bf3 which is now 6 months old) and it will only get worse. This...

You mean the 7470m right? To be fair, BF3 is a horribly unoptimized game and shouldn't be used as some sort of test for a GPU's capabilities.

I looked and there are some sellers on eBay that sell these cables. Since this was my first time installing an SSD, I went with the brand the guys at Notebook Review recommended. HP sells them too,...

does anyone know if HP has any current rebate offered on this?
Wow... if I didn't have my beast that I bought few years ago I would totally jump on this... nice specs!

Both that and the $25 upgrade (doesn't look like the discount applied to the vid upgrade) to the 1GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7690M GDDR5 would be well worth the small extra cost.

Here's another useful piece of information: by default, the function keys are set to the HP multimedia applications. To make them act normally (eg, f1=help, etc), you need to go into the BIOS as...

I would think that if you just want to transfer the factory default setup, then you would: 1) Make/Burn recovery DVDs (I think HP allows this only once, so use good DVD media and keep them in a safe...

I was thinking that as well, but I didn't see the option to create recovery CDs. I'll look again, but I have to wonder if HP somehow removes that option if you don't choose to have them make it for...

Repped, will be attempting to do this tonight. So far, I've only powered on my HP and did the updates, so hopefully that doesn't negate me from making the recovery disc, I have yet to truly use it.
