I kept a pothos alive when I worked in a basement of a building. They are awesome! And if you don't particularly care about your office walls, they will stick themselves to the wall and climb.

Best idea. To expand on it, also consider nurseries. Buy something that's already grown. Let them know what kind of light you get at your desk.

Your office doesn't have to a greenhouse. Small plants will clean the air close to where you sit. This and nice a furnace filter will freshen up your office.
