The problem with it was rampant piracy without the need for extra hardware. Devs just jumped ship at that point.

Dunno what planet you're on, but Vita games have been selling for a decent premium off retail. I doubt you'd clear even $7 after fees/shipping. That, plus your need to deal with brain-dead Kmart...

The point is that the DS destroyed the PSP in software sales, despite piracy on both that is definitely rampant. The PSP just didn't have the support, and Sony really didn't do much to change that...
