Good deal. I didn't know these Phenoms are in stock and it looks like it bundles with some cheapo AM3+ boards as well. Now that the 960T seem to be out of stock in every MC this is probably the best...

That is a good option for those who don't need 4 slots for ram and some of the features with the other ASUS board. Added to OP with credit to you.

I can definitively say that if you are going with any SLI setup, the GA-78LMT-S2P Socket AM3+ 760G mATX AMD Motherboard will not work. You'll need two slots, the GA-78LMT only has one.

Don't go cheap on the board when you want to overclock, or even when using a 125 watt CP at stock settings. The boards with 2 ram slots are not made for hot rodding. You want to go with a 125 watt...

I ended up going with the EVO version, since this is my build to last me for years to come. I figure if I'm going to upgrade the processor in the future, I'll probably need a new MB anyway, so I...

It really depends on what your goal is for the build. The two things in regards to the motherboard that jump out is that it has only two slots for ram as opposed to four with some of the more...

The Evo with the 965T come to $165 plus tax ($181 total for me).

Which is perfect if you are looking for an excuse to have a new build without having things to sell or put on the shelf

Builds often start off pretty basic, but then you get more money, you start buying more components. I'm reaching the limit of my cheapo PSU now since I've upgraded from a 4-core to a 6-core CPU. I...

I hate MC B&M deals  The closest MC is almost 2-hour round trip for me, not worth it. I just paid $110 for 965 and $79 for ASRock 970 EXTREME3 Motherboard. I would love to get this deal...

I also don't think the person that originally asked needs a 500W+ PS. He/she said they were using on-board video and even though the cpu is rated at 125W that is MAX. If you look at reviews on...

I've done that PSU deal every time at this price, never a problem with rebate and a great PSU for the $...

might be irrelevant, but get the 960T if possible. mine unlocked to x6 without trouble. In addition, the Gigabyte 970A is a better mobo than the M5A97 from Asus. The GA board is more on par with...

The ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS is NOT worth getting. Pay 20-30 dollar more for a higher quality motherboard.. this is a 95w motherboard that they just upgraded bios and sold as 125watt motherboard.. it...

Well they do have a 15 day return policy on CPUs. Not sure whether that translates to a 15-day price guarantee.

Good information. However, did you turn off AMD's Cool'n'Quiet feature? Did you also try using a Phenom II CPU or something other than a Bulldozer CPU? These two things could cause throttling. ...

Where do you live? They still have the 1045T in stock in most areas.

I realize that these type of MC B&M deals get a lot of hate, but I thought this was a pretty good deal. Got this for a buddy who needed a new build on a budget. Add both to cart for in store...

I tried it with second-to-cheapest AM3+ board which is the ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS and it works. At these prices, MC is outpricing other retailers on the CPU alone, not even mentioning the free/cheap...

I can't imagine the markup is high enough to make what most companies consider a 'big enough' profit. Microcenter, like most other B&M deals, are banking on the possibility that you end up buying...

couldn't you just use thermal adhesive to glue a heat sink onto the VRM?

yes you can do that, i've bought the enzotech mosfet heatisnk ones from newegg for $16 after tax and applied it on. the throttling is A LOT less now, but it still happens when i run cpu stress...

Why don't they sell CPU/mobo combos on Amazon.com?
Post #50417426 added 05-21-2012 9:15 PM by BestApplePie in Archived Deals
I want to get this, but now the combo is $153.68 + tax. Is this still a good deal?

125W CPU, so you might want a 500W+ PSU to go with it. They have a generic 500W PSU microcenter.com] for $15 AR. I've had decent luck with generic PSUs, they've died on me in the past but not so...
