Almost sounds like you have the Microsoft Document Image Writer as the default printer so it is trying to pass that data for the PDF into that software driver and it cannot read it. Verify that...

Try to open the PDF file with Acrobat Reader program and go to FILE -> PRINT and then choose the correct (physical) printer you want to use.

I had a similar problem with Acrobat. Uninstalled version 10 and installed version 9. All issues went away.
