I agree. A noisy computer can drive you crazy. If you don't really need the extra graphics from that card, you stick it in a drawer and forget about it. Why make yourself crazy with puter headaches...

Thanks for the info and links. The program MSI afterburner was similar to what you suggested but the fan was unresponsive to any changes. I might try the driver disk and install vista drivers to see...

It seems to me that Win7 is not accepting the drivers and controls, the same way Vista did. It could even be as simple as changing the compatibility mode of the drivers/installers to Vista to get it...

No, I have posted this question after already switching to an older (fanless, ahh silence!) gpu since I don't game very hard. I will be trying it at some point soon and I will report back if it works.
