The only way to get another 6950 for $50 will be in 3-4 years used. At that point, it'll be outdated and inefficient. So, no, I don't think it's a very good plan.

For Crossfire, the cards do not need to be identical. The cards essentially need to be from the same family and sub-family. Life is easier the more similar the cards are.

There's definitely some confusion here. You do know that you would need a second identical card to set them up in a crossfire array, don't you, which is why nobody is understanding the urgency....
