I agree it greatly depends on the drill as well. Ideally you would want to use a hammerdrill with these.

Cold water on hot metal can sometimes lead to weakening or embrittlement of the metal. Since these are so cheap, you could buy a couple and swap them out if heat is a big concern.

uh... kids, you CANNOT use a regular drill for these. It just doesnt work. The tip is dull, you need the hammering action of the hammer drill to cut through masonry.

I punch a lot of holes in concrete and block. A hammer drill is a must! ;) These bits work more like a spinning chisel. The hammer effect drives the bit deeper in to the work.

Yeah and you can also drill through concrete with a dinner spoon (Shawshank Redemption and Alcatraz come to mind) :lol: but there are more efficient ways to make a hole.

In my experience, no (keep in mind I'm not a pro or anything, just a guy that does alot of DIY). Better concrete/masonry bits (i.e. more $) are worth it. Ditto for ones with diamond - the ones I buy...

No, Rotary Hammer bits don't work with a standard drill or even with a basic hammer drill. The bit in this thread is not a rotary hammer bit though.
