It's usually for cooking. Meat to check doneness, water temperature, sugar temp for caramel, oil temps. But I guess you could ram this in your butt if you're into that kind of stuff.

Changed the batteries. From reviews I read by other owners, it seems to be an issue with the probe itself. This was one of those probes you could put in the oven and wire attached to the LCD...

I have yet to find a decent meat thermometer. The last 2 I owned worked a few times before they gave out. One just flat out quit and the other would display the temp as "LO" all the time.
