I bought a retail copy from newegg for $10 and got the dup key message. Had to scan my manual with a support ticket with steam, what a pain. I would by from steam to avoid key problems imo.

until you have an issue with Steam, and you lose the ability to play every game you own... and there's nobody to contact, as Steam support is nonexistent (sure there's email, but it takes forever)....
