I got a pair of 12 year old Yamaha PC speakers hooked up to my Panasonic Tube HDTV. All you need is a converter that takes the audio out, right and left, and accepts a speaker plug.

The nice thing about the vizio sound bars is that, if they don't come with a woofer, they come with a standard sub port so you can add one later.

Exactly! Your old desktop speaker will work with you TV. If you need better quality audio with sub woofer. Go with JBL. Probably you need shell a few more bucks than $50.
