That's what I was thinking to do, but the rebate says this: Only valid on purchases made at: • Newegg.com So I don't think it'll work--I'm thinking it's risky if you try that.

I don't think the rebate kills the deal because the power consumption is pretty much the only downside to the drive. The Plextor is 5 year warranty vs Crucial 3 year. And comparing the read/write...

Ah thanks for checking that out! Plextor's website had the same specs as newegg. Well then the only downside is the rebate, which I don't mind that much. I think I'm going to grab this drive. :D
