Damn, decided to pull the trigger today, and now it's not on the same sale (comes to $144.99 with JUNE10 discount). I went with my wife to a couple of garage sales today, and one of them had new...

Agreed. That's why I passed on it. If it were ball bearing drawer slides, I could live with the bar down the front as the locking mechanism....oh well, I will keep my eyes open on here for another...

I think the only boxes I have seen with those bars are either the basic line cheapies (don't even have quiet glide I don't think) or realllllly old ones that are nicer (like 60s-70s boxes from fellow...

Those Craftsman cabinets with non-bearing drawers and the locking bar in front are cheesy junk. Not worth $50 IMHO, because you'll probably be out shopping for a better one as soon as you start using...

Return it - mine has no issues.

Picked up my tool chest and after unboxing it I noticed that the gap between the frame and top drawer is .5" wider on the left side than the right. The drawer seems to work fine, but it just makes it...

Updated OP with further discount that just kicked in! They almost always exclude on sale tool chests from the blanket sales going on.

The low end ball bearing units feel just as cheap as the quiet glide. The drawers move more smoothly with weight in them, but the metal is still VERY thin. The SS grip latch bottom/top I have is much...

Yes you should be able to use the coupons, just print them out. Here is a great HF thread Make sure to read the wiki and print out a free item coupon as well.

Remember it's HF so all claims should be assumed to be wrong. Also the lack of quality control across all their products is staggering (and why everything is so inexpensive because it saves a...

I returned my first 12" box as defective because it had a cut mark in the ridged metal drawer handle. I didn't have my box because I threw it out in the dumpster at work. the cut was only about...

I am not trashing the deal, because I have not seen the unit. I am noting that the red/black unit I just bought is 118 pounds and this one is 105. That does suggest this is not as or that heavy...

Ok, here's my two cents on these. I couldn't tell exactly from the comments (not the sears' description) what the self-closing mechanism was, so I decided to take a look at these on the store. ...

And finally, and this is unfortunately true for most chests, the top cover has to be open in order to open the drawers. I could never understand why this would be necessary. If I want a small tool...

This would be a super slick price on a decent chest. Only thing is, the drawer slides, despite being ball-bearing, have a "self-locking" feature that makes them close really poorly. You have to just...

I have the top chest, it was a christmas present a couple years ago. I completely agree with you, the self-locking feature is useless and downright annoying - I slide all my drawers in until they get...

What does this set usually go for on a normal day? Not the $600 i'm sure
Post #50825464 added 06-08-2012 8:26 AM by slammedisuzu in Archived Deals
Darn, the reviews here are encouraging me to steer clear of this box. Sounds like the self locking feature is what most do not like?
Post #50825586 added 06-08-2012 8:30 AM by spidrw in Archived Deals
It's a minor annoyance. I've had a set with that feature for 4ish years, and I don't even notice is anymore. I just do like everyone else and close the drawer until it hits the lock.

You missed a better deal by one day. Yesterday I bought this in red/black, fully assembled, with drawer liner, for $244.00. You might check the Craftsman Club to see if they still have that...

Craftsman cabinets usually carry 3-5 year warranties. The US General stuff from HF gives you 90 days. Just something to keep in mind.

Features like the grip latch and even ball bearing slides really don't mean much until you load the drawers up with heavy tools. In their empty state you simply cannot appreciate them.
