Most likely the jack - just takes one person tripping over that cord & ripping it out of the back of the machine & the jack is.... jacked. Try Liquid's suggestion above if you can lay your hands...

Pin jacks don't get faulty unless you treat them really badly. Most likely it has to be the faulty Power adapter.

Do you have a multimeter? You can check the power adapter in a few places to see if it is putting out voltage. If it is then its probably the laptop jack (they can fail at the motherboard), If not...
