The new user could do that, but the command has already been given to the SSD, that won't reverse it. The beauty of TRIM is that the SSD acts independently of the OS to wipe the data in question.

You could boot the laptop from the OS X DVD and use the Disk Utility to do a Secure Erase. You can choose 1, 3, or 7 pass wipes. I'd say 3 is prolly enough, but 7 would be more secure.
