Lowe's had the DW718 for $399, which you can PM at Home Depot... Still not sure which is a better deal. After tax, the 718 comes out to about $50 more....(if HD will indeed PM)

I built my own a few years back and love it, so I haven't been in the market. Its heavy to move, but it works beautifully on my old crappy miter. I think I should be able to adapt it for this...

I don't have it yet so I can't answer for sure, and its not indicated in the description. I've never seen a miter saw with soft start actually, but they weigh enough that things rarely jump around...

Even though this deal is over I am still wondering if any 10" sliding can do 5" crown molding or even regular 2x6" angle cuts in one stroke. I know my floor guy had to use 12" compound for 5" crown...
