It's Sandforce's controller but Intel spent a year developing custom firmware to cure any issues... I think the Samsung is a great drive but if reliability is your main concern then Intel is a slam...

Good price for this drive! I hear the Samsung 830 is cheaper, more reliable, and faster though. With this however, you do get a 5-year warranty. Can't go wrong with either though!

It's not just ANY SandForce drive, but an Intel one. Big difference! Don't be turned off by the other manufacturer failures who use the same controller. The 520 still has the highest warranty.

You are correct, SATA3 is backwards compatible to SATA2. 2=3Gb/s and 3=6Gb/s but it's not like you're hitting those speeds anyway.
