It's the iPod generation. Don't need jewel cases, booklets, and discs when your entire music collection sits on your iPod and computer. Also, since almost nobody can tell the difference between a...

I wonder if it has to do with licensing use of the songs for only up to a certain bitrate.

....yeah.... but that's definitely the most common place I listen to music in. I'm rarely at home, so even though I have a nice system there it maybe gets used twice a month. The rest of the time I...

Tried to order on my kindle fire and it said "website only". Had never seen that before and why does it matter if it goes into my Amazon cloud anyway. Just one more step for me.

You're right, the CD is always better and I prefer to rip it myself. It has taken me years to use up a $15 iTunes credit... The only exception is when you only want one song from an album,...

Maybe it'd unleash a s-storm from people on slower connections trying to stream from Amazon's MP3 app. Which Amazon wouldn't want to threaten as it's a big selling point.

Er, 900/256 = 3.5, not "at least 4." Also assume the physical CD of the same album is closer to $11.99 brand new. So you get all that nifty CD stuff, PLUS you get to pay 4 times as much (or more...

I don't think I'd buy Mothership, the remastering is really compressed and smashed. The Complete Studio recording remasters are better.

MP3s for general are overpriced. Amazon's music has an average of 256kbps bit rate. A CD has over 900kbps. Assume the physical CD of the same album is $9 brand new, you are getting at least 4 times...
