I encourage you to look more into plasmas. Much of your concern with them doesn't apply to newer plasmas.

1. Plasma gives better color reproduction compared to LCD - relevant if you are watching movie primarily
2. LCD will provide faster refresh rates with less chances of burn...

Oops my fault - refresh rate is better in Plasma - but burn in can be a problem. Especially if you are having a logo at any corner while watching any sports channel or if you have a cross hair all...

You did miss the 20 degree viewing angle which is 2.5 times :)

The best picture quality is Plasma. I won't even recommend an LCD TV since they all suck IMO.
